Introduction

This course is designed to build your knowledge of the certification requirements for each seafarer rank. Participants will gain a clear understanding of the competence–training–certificate requirements, supported by a highly practical crew certificate list.

Through this program, you will develop a solid understanding of certification and training requirements as per STCW 2010.


Course Objectives

By the end of this STCW 2010 training course, participants will:

  • Gain up-to-date knowledge of STCW 2010 Certification & Training requirements for crew and officers.

  • Understand certification and training requirements across all ranks.

  • Identify the types of certificates and additional requirements for each rank.

  • Review competence–training–certificate requirements such as company/vessel responsibilities, shipboard, safety, and security familiarization.

  • Learn the main training requirements, including basic safety, in-service training, survival craft & rescue boat, advanced fire fighting, and medical first aid.

  • Understand training requirements for tankers and passenger ships.

  • Explore additional competence requirements under STCW 2010.

  • Crew Managers & Manning Agents

  • Crew and Manning Department Assistants

  • Operations Managers & Designated Persons Ashore (DPA)

  • Personnel responsible for crew training and selection

  • Officers and crew members seeking updated knowledge of STCW requirements

  • Master

  • Chief Mate

  • Officer in Charge of a Navigational Watch

  • Ratings Forming Part of a Navigational Watch

  • Able Seafarer Deck

  • Radio Operators

  • Chief Engineer

  • Second Engineer

  • Officer in Charge of an Engineering Watch

  • Electro-Technical Officer

  • Ratings Forming Part of an Engineering Watch

  • Able Seafarer Engine

  • Other crew members with designated safety or pollution prevention duties
